Michael Leach is the CEO and Founder of Recovery Begins. With nearly 10 years of personal sobriety, Michael combines lived experience with professional training to help Canadians navigate the addiction treatment system.
Michael holds two professional certifications. His CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) provides a clinical foundation in healthcare delivery and patient care. His ISSUP certification from the International Society of Substance Use Professionals reflects specialized training in substance use, addiction prevention, and evidence-based treatment approaches — the addiction-specific credential that directly informs the content and listings on Recovery Begins.
Michael founded Recovery Begins after experiencing firsthand how difficult it can be to find reliable, up-to-date information on Canadian addiction treatment options. His goal is a transparent, trustworthy directory where every Canadian can find the right level of care without confusion or delay.
