Winnipeg Booth Centre

The Winnipeg Booth Centre, operated by The Salvation Army since 1897, is one of Manitoba’s longest-standing social service organizations. Located at 180 Henry Avenue in downtown Winnipeg, the centre provides emergency shelter, sober living support, and recovery-focused programming for individuals struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. With over a century of service, it remains a cornerstone of compassionate care in the city.

Shelter and Sober Living Programs

The centre offers both emergency and transitional shelter, giving individuals a stable foundation from which to begin their recovery journey. The 60-day intensive rehabilitation program combines counselling, recreational sessions, and aftercare residential services to support lasting sobriety. Case management and spiritual care are woven throughout, addressing the whole person rather than addiction alone.

Wraparound Support Services

Beyond housing, the Winnipeg Booth Centre delivers a full range of wraparound services including substance abuse counselling, daytime drop-ins, mobile outreach, and mental health resource connections. Meals, clothing, and 24/7 washroom access ensure that basic needs are met for those in the most vulnerable circumstances — removing barriers that often prevent people from seeking help.

As a registered Canadian charitable organization, the centre operates with full transparency and accountability. Its programs are designed to move people through crisis and into stability: 42% of program participants exit homelessness within three months, and nearly all newcomers transition out of emergency shelter within four months.
