Telmexw Awtexw Treatment Centre

Telmexw Awtexw Healing Centre is an Indigenous residential treatment and healing program operated by Sts’ailes First Nation, located at 4690 Salish Way in Agassiz, British Columbia. Rooted in the cultural strength and traditions of the Sts’ailes people, the centre delivers holistic, trauma-informed care for First Nations individuals dealing with substance use, addiction, and the intergenerational impacts of trauma. Working collaboratively with the First Nations Health Authority, Fraser Health, and regional First Nations organizations, Telmexw Awtexw serves as a beacon of culturally grounded healing in the Fraser Salish region.

Culturally Grounded Healing and Recovery

Telmexw Awtexw — whose name reflects the Sts’ailes language and worldview — delivers services grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and healing. The centre’s approach strengthens First Nations people to develop spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically, addressing substance use alongside the root causes of addiction, including intergenerational trauma and cultural disconnection. Services include individual counselling, healing circles, 12-step recovery groups, harm reduction education, and Elder and Knowledge Keeper guidance — all delivered within a framework that honours Sts’ailes culture and community values.

Land-Based Healing and Cultural Programming

Land-based healing programs are a cornerstone of the Telmexw Awtexw approach. Connecting clients with the land — and through the land, with identity, community, and spirit — is recognized as essential to the recovery process for many Indigenous people.
