About

Simon House Recovery Centre is one of Calgary’s most established and respected men’s addiction recovery programs, operating since 1982. Fully accredited by Accreditation Canada and licensed by the Government of Alberta, Simon House offers a 12-week residential treatment program for men — completely free of charge. Led by Clinical Director Holly Tait, a registered clinical psychologist, the centre is defined by its unique four-pathway model that allows each client to choose a recovery approach aligned with his own values and beliefs.

Four Recovery Pathways — One Program

Unlike treatment centres that prescribe a single method, Simon House empowers men to choose their own recovery pathway from four evidence-informed options: the 12-Step approach rooted in Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous; Wellbriety, a First Nations-centred holistic healing model; Recovery Dharma, a Buddhist-inspired path using meditation and mindfulness; and SMART Recovery, a secular, cognitive-behavioural, science-based approach. This freedom of choice reflects Simon House’s deep respect for each man’s individuality and lived experience.

Residential Program and Indigenous Supports

The 12-week residential program immerses men in a structured recovery community with individual and group substance abuse counselling, peer support, and family services. Indigenous cultural supports and services are woven into programming, recognizing the particular experiences of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit clients. Family support programming helps loved ones understand addiction and participate meaningfully in the recovery journey. An AfterCare program bridges the transition from residential treatment back into community life.

Accredited, Free, and Fully Supported

Simon House is a registered non-profit charitable organization that has provided residential addiction treatment at no cost to men since 1982. Accreditation Canada certification and Government of Alberta licensing affirm the centre’s commitment to clinical excellence. For men in Calgary who need serious, structured residential care but face financial barriers, Simon House stands as one of the most accessible and clinically sound options in the province.
