Sagashtawao Healing Lodge

Sagashtawao Healing Lodge is a residential addiction treatment centre rooted in Indigenous culture and healing traditions, located in Moosonee, Ontario on the shore of James Bay. Accredited by Accreditation Canada and meeting national standards for addiction treatment, Sagashtawao provides a culturally grounded path to recovery for First Nations individuals and their families.

Individual Treatment Program

Sagashtawao offers four six-week Individual Treatment Program intakes per year, providing clients with intensive inpatient residential care that blends evidence-informed addiction treatment with traditional Indigenous healing practices. The program is guided by the belief that the Creator gave everyone inner strength and freewill — principles that form the foundation of the healing journey at Sagashtawao.

Family Healing Program

Recognizing that addiction affects the entire family unit, Sagashtawao offers four three-week Family Healing Program intakes per year. This program supports family members in their own healing process, strengthening relationships and building a recovery-supportive home environment for returning clients.

Holistic and Alternative Approaches

Treatment at Sagashtawao integrates holistic and alternative therapies alongside clinical support, addressing the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions of recovery. The centre treats alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine, and opioid addictions, with a referral and admission process designed to ensure each client is appropriately matched to the program.
