About
Pritchard House is an Indigenous addiction recovery program operated by the Native Addictions Council of Manitoba (NACM), located at 160 Salter Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba. With over 50 years of service to Indigenous communities, NACM delivers culturally grounded, holistic healing for First Nations, Metis, and Inuit people navigating addiction. The Pritchard House program — NACM’s residential in-house healing component — operates alongside outpatient day programming to provide a continuum of care guided by Indigenous traditions, the Seven Sacred Teachings, and a deep respect for the dignity and resilience of every person who comes seeking help.
Six-Week In-House Healing Program
Pritchard House’s six-week residential program provides Indigenous men and women with a structured, culturally safe healing environment where recovery is understood as a journey of the whole person — mind, body, and spirit. Participants engage in individual and group counselling, cultural teachings, and holistic programming that addresses substance use — including alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine, and opioids — alongside the intergenerational trauma and disconnection that so often underlie addiction in Indigenous communities. NACM staff refer to participants as “relatives,” not clients — a reflection of the relational, communal philosophy at the heart of their work.
Indigenous Healing and the Seven Sacred Teachings
NACM’s approach is rooted in the Seven Sacred Teachings — Love, Respect, Courage, Honesty, Wisdom, Humility, and Truth — which guide every interaction and every program at Pritchard House. Holistic therapies, relapse prevention programming, and cultural practices bring these teachings to life in the recovery process. Accredited by Accreditation Canada and funded through the National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP), NACM operates to professional standards while remaining firmly grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing and healing.
Recovery Day Program and Aftercare
Following residential treatment, NACM’s five-week Recovery and Follow-Up Day Program provides continued support for graduates transitioning back into community life. Assessment, aftercare planning, and drug testing services support the continuity of care that is essential for long-term recovery. For Indigenous people in Winnipeg and Manitoba who are seeking a recovery program that honours their culture, identity, and community, Pritchard House and NACM offer a trusted, proven pathway to healing.
