Peguis Al-Care Treatment Centre

Peguis Al-Care Treatment Centre is a First Nations residential and outpatient addiction treatment facility operated by Peguis First Nation in Peguis, Manitoba. Funded by the National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP) and recognized as an official Canadian Substance Use Treatment Centre for First Nations and Inuit, the centre provides 42-day treatment cycles for adults 18 and older in a community setting that integrates cultural programming alongside evidence-informed addiction counselling. With 20 beds and services delivered in both English and Cree, the centre serves the Peguis community and surrounding region with culturally grounded, accessible care.

42-Day Treatment Program with Cultural Integration

The Peguis Al-Care programme operates on 42-day treatment cycles with intake occurring every six weeks. The program addresses substance use involving alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine, opioids, hallucinogens, narcotics, and prescription medications through individualized and group counselling, alcohol and drug education, and life-skills and personal development programming. Case management and crisis intervention services ensure that clients receive responsive, coordinated care throughout the treatment cycle. Cultural activities and recreation therapy are woven into the daily programme, grounding recovery in First Nations identity and community belonging.

Bilingual Services in English and Cree

The Peguis Al-Care Treatment Centre is one of the few addiction treatment facilities in Manitoba to offer services in Cree alongside English — a meaningful expression of the centre’s commitment to cultural safety and linguistic accessibility for Peguis community members.
