About
Nenqayni Wellness Centre Society is an Indigenous-governed treatment and wellness organization based in Williams Lake, British Columbia, serving First Nations and Inuit youth, families, and communities across the Cariboo-Chilcotin region. Governed by 15 First Nations bands representing the Secwepemc (Shuswap), Tsilhqot’in (Chilcotin), and Dakelh (Carrier) peoples, Nenqayni is accredited by the Canadian Accreditation Council and is committed to providing holistic, culturally grounded healing in a safe, secure environment. The centre’s programming addresses substance use — including alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine, opioids, and inhalants — alongside the broader wellness needs of Indigenous individuals and families.
Youth, Family, and Men’s Wellness Programs
Nenqayni offers a range of gender-specific and family-centred programming tailored to the particular healing needs of each group. Youth Wellness programs provide culturally safe support for young people navigating substance use and trauma. The Family Program brings families together in the healing process, recognizing that Indigenous wellness is inherently communal and relational. Men’s Program programming creates a focused, culturally grounded space for men to work through addiction and the interconnected challenges of trauma, identity, and community belonging.
Cultural and Land-Based Healing
At the heart of Nenqayni’s approach is the recognition that Indigenous healing cannot be separated from cultural identity and connection to the land. Cultural and Land-Based Teachings are woven throughout all of Nenqayni’s programs — integrating the wisdom traditions of the Secwepemc, Tsilhqot’in, and Dakelh peoples into the recovery process. This holistic approach addresses the spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical dimensions of health together, in ways that are deeply meaningful for the communities Nenqayni serves.
Community Outreach and Continuing Care
Nenqayni is evolving its service delivery model to bring programming directly to communities — offering mobile outreach for both adults and youth through the Adult and Youth Wellness Outreach programs. Continuing care services ensure that individuals remain connected to support after their initial engagement with Nenqayni’s programming. For First Nations and Inuit individuals and families in the Cariboo-Chilcotin region who are seeking culturally grounded wellness support, Nenqayni Wellness Centre Society has served as a trusted, community-governed resource for decades.
