About
The Native Courtworker and Counselling Association of BC (NCCABC) delivers Indigenous addiction counselling and detox support services from its office at 1999 Marine Drive, Suite 207, in North Vancouver, British Columbia. With additional programming in Surrey, NCCABC is committed to providing culturally safe, trauma-informed support for Indigenous individuals navigating substance use, mental health challenges, and the complex social circumstances that often accompany them. Services are delivered by Indigenous counsellors and support workers who bring both professional expertise and lived cultural understanding to their work.
Indigenous Outpatient Addiction Counselling
NCCABC’s outpatient addiction counselling program provides culturally appropriate one-on-one counselling and group programming for Indigenous people dealing with alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine, opioids, benzodiazepines, and other substance use concerns. Counsellors work with clients to develop individualized Client Action Plans that identify next steps for recovery, and connect clients with practical resources including housing, shelter, food, and community services. This holistic, needs-based approach acknowledges that addiction recovery rarely happens in isolation from other life challenges.
Indigenous Detox Support and Mental Health Services
NCCABC’s Detox Support Workers program provides specialized Indigenous support during the detoxification process — a critical and often vulnerable time in recovery. Support workers offer cultural and emotional accompaniment alongside the medical detox process, ensuring Indigenous clients feel safe, respected, and connected to their identity throughout withdrawal. In Surrey, the Indigenous Mental Health and Addictions Counselling program extends NCCABC’s reach into the Lower Mainland, providing culturally safe counselling for concurrent mental health and substance use concerns.
Culturally Safe, Community-Centred Recovery
NCCABC was founded on the principle that Indigenous people deserve justice system and social services support that truly reflects their cultural needs and lived realities. This conviction shapes every aspect of the addiction counselling programs — from how counsellors engage with clients, to the cultural content of group programming, to the referral networks NCCABC draws on to support each person’s recovery. For Indigenous individuals and families in the Metro Vancouver and North Shore region, NCCABC offers a trusted, culturally informed entry point into addiction recovery.
