About
Laichwiltach Family Life Society (LFLS) is a community-based Indigenous organization delivering addiction and wellness services in Campbell River, British Columbia. Located at 441 4th Avenue, LFLS draws its name and mission from the Laichwiltach peoples of northern Vancouver Island, and is committed to providing culturally grounded, relationship-centred support for Indigenous individuals and families navigating addiction and its related challenges. With roots firmly planted in community, LFLS offers professional counselling, assessment, referral, and ongoing support services for residents of Campbell River and the surrounding region.
Outpatient Addiction Counselling and Support
The LFLS Addiction Services program delivers one-on-one counselling for individuals dealing with alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine, opioid, and other substance use concerns. Counsellors take a practical, supportive approach — working alongside clients to assess their situation, identify the right next steps, and connect them with treatment options that fit their needs. For clients who have completed residential treatment, the LFLS team provides aftercare plan development and ongoing support to help sustain recovery in the community.
Assessment, Referral, and Intervention
Not everyone who needs help knows where to start. LFLS offers professional addiction assessments that help individuals understand the nature of their substance use and identify the level of care required. When residential or specialized treatment is the right path forward, counsellors facilitate referrals to appropriate treatment centres and provide support through the transition process. Intervention strategies are also available for families and loved ones who are concerned about someone struggling with addiction and uncertain how to help.
Community, Cultural Safety, and Ongoing Support
Laichwiltach Family Life Society brings together professional expertise and cultural knowledge in service of Campbell River’s Indigenous community. The organization recognizes that recovery is an ongoing process, not a single event, and provides continued support and access to support groups for clients at all stages of their journey. For Indigenous people in the Discovery Islands and northern Vancouver Island region, LFLS offers a trusted, culturally safe point of access to addiction recovery services.
