Kingston Health Sciences Centre’s Detoxification Centre

Kingston Health Sciences Centre’s Detoxification Centre is the only facility of its kind in southeastern Ontario, providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals to withdraw from substances under clinical supervision. Services are free, confidential, and available to anyone 16 years of age or older who requires a non-medical detox setting.

Withdrawal Management Services

The KHSC Detox Centre provides short-stay withdrawal management for people who are intoxicated, in withdrawal, waiting for a confirmed intake into a residential treatment program, or at risk of serious harm related to substance use. The centre treats alcohol, benzodiazepines, cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine, and opioids, with on-site medical support available Monday to Friday.

Voluntary and Accessible

All stays at the Detox Centre are voluntary, and the facility operates with a low-barrier, gender-sensitive approach. Both men and women are welcomed, and gender-specific support is available to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all clients.

Bridge to Longer-Term Treatment

The Detox Centre serves as a critical bridge between acute substance use crises and longer-term recovery. Staff work with clients to connect them with outpatient services, residential treatment programs, and community supports to support continued recovery after leaving the centre.
