Government of Prince Edward Island - Lacey House

Lacey House is a publicly funded residential addiction extended care facility for women and girls in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, operated by Health PEI. With 12 residential spaces and four day-treatment spaces, Lacey House provides a structured, home-like therapeutic environment where women 16 years and older can access up to 90 days of intensive residential addiction treatment and support.

Residential Extended Care for Women

Lacey House provides 24-hour supervised, structured residential treatment specifically designed for women and girls dealing with alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine, and opioid use disorders. The program combines full-day and evening therapeutic programming with the safety and stability of a residential environment, allowing women to focus entirely on their recovery away from the pressures and triggers of their home environments.

Family-Centred Supports

Lacey House’s facility includes dedicated family visiting spaces and overnight accommodation for residents with children, recognizing that many women in treatment are mothers and caregivers. This family-centred approach helps women maintain connections with their children during treatment and prepares them for their role as parents in recovery — an important dimension of long-term wellness.

Accessible Provincial Resource

Lacey House accepts referrals from individuals, primary care providers, mental health and addictions services, and out-of-province treatment facilities, making it an accessible entry point for women seeking residential care across Prince Edward Island. As part of the Health PEI system, the facility connects clients with provincial mental health, community health, and continuing care services to support recovery beyond the residential program.
