Cochrane District Detoxification Centre

Cochrane District Detoxification Centre is a 27-bed residential detoxification and withdrawal management facility operated by Smooth Rock Falls Hospital in northeastern Ontario. Serving adults 16 years and older across the Cochrane District and surrounding communities, the centre provides medically supervised, bilingual, and culturally safe detox services at no cost to clients, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Residential Withdrawal Management

The centre offers both crisis withdrawal management (Phase 1) and extended residential withdrawal management (Phase 2) for individuals dealing with alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine, opioid, and other substance dependencies. The facility accepts individuals who are actively intoxicated or experiencing withdrawal, providing immediate support at the most critical stage of the recovery journey.

Culturally Safe and Bilingual Programming

Cochrane District Detox operates in both English and French, reflecting the bilingual character of northeastern Ontario. Indigenous-focused, culturally safe programming is integrated into the centre’s services, ensuring that First Nations, Métis, and Inuit community members receive care that respects and affirms their cultural identity. Collaboration with North Cochrane Addiction Services provides access to clinical assessments and referrals for ongoing addiction treatment.

Case Management and Continuing Care

The centre’s team includes program workers and case managers who conduct intake assessments, develop individualized care plans, and connect clients with residential treatment programs and community supports following detoxification.
